about

Jonestown Brighton, UK

We are Jonestown, an exercise in stupidity and the acquisition of dreams sold to us by engaging ourselves in too much TV at an early age. Convinced that we're talented or special, when the painful truth is, we are not special. In the realisation that we are not special we came to find we were angry. Just like us our music is not special but we can assure you it's angry and honest ... more

Track Name: The Suffering
Smoke and mirrors, fate predetermined by your birth.
Why must I acknowledge your pain?
Crawling in the afterbirth.
Sacrifice and hardship, the victory of suffering?
Your promise land I will never see.
I never asked to be born,

Illegitimate bastard sons, we are but a harvest,
Consider it all, our combined suffering.
Nothing in his shadow, No matter what you do,
You were born to fall, condemned by your salvation.

Free will, the greatest comedic stab wound,
With your knives in our backs,
Crawling in the afterbirth,
The human condition, the suicide belt,
These are the keys to the kingdom.
I never asked to be born,

Condemned, condemnation is our birth right.

Illegitimate bastard sons, we are but a harvest,
Consider it all, our combined suffering.
Nothing in his shadow, No matter what you do,
You were born to fall, condemned by your salvation.

Condemned, condemnation is our birth right.
Track Name: We Are Animals
One last setting sun, one last turn of the carousel,
One more chance to prove causality wrong.
The road to hell was paved with good intentions,
Dystopias of our own invention.

Open up the archives of pain, repeat the same mistakes that have been made.
Hammer in the screws and screw in the nails, blood alone oils the wheels.

A species congregated on the second throne.
The nature of power, the warning, Cicero.
Prime time engineers of our own extinction,
Child like we give our undivided attention.

One more setting sun, one more grain in the hourglass.
One more chance to prove Nietzsche wrong.
The road to hell paved by the ghosts of Europe,
Utopias of the liberal imagination.

Mystery! Babylon the great, Mother of all prostitutes, abominations of the Earth!
She lay before the continents, the woman with seven heads.
She presented herself to man and man revealed his nature.

We animals, dreamt of being men. Abandon all hope, embrace the sensation.
We animals, who dreamt of being men…

Autonomy, bleeds from our veins, Our future, slips through our fingers,
We animals, who dreamt of being men, We men, who were animals.

The Son goes down, the argument is won.
We were always doomed to repeat the same mistakes.
Experience, devoid and derelict.
We animals, who dreamt of being men.
Mystery! Babylon our Queen of Queens!
Track Name: The Erebus and the Terror
My own voice, my only friend.
My memories, my one comfort.
Civility crushed by nature.
Decorum swallowed by the deep.
This world unstable, tightens her grip around me.

Slow death, sinking fast, a new found consciousness.
Slow death, breaking down, an ice cold reality.

The days are closing in and I’m far from home!
The night is falling down, I’m so far from home!

Horizons of starvation, landscapes of isolation.
Memories of smokestacks, faraway industrious redemption.
I’m far from home, in this alien world.
I am the borders in the margins of existence.

My body aching, I think I’m dying!?
My dreams are frozen and forgotten!?

Reborn, a non-event mass in time, I don’t exist? I’m not insane!
I’m lost in time, I don’t exist!? Remember me?

Slow death, sinking fast, a new found consciousness.
Slow death, breaking down, an ice cold reality.

Reborn, a non-event mass in time, I don’t exist? I’m not insane!
I’m lost in time, I don’t exist!? Remember me?

Oh God save me, I don’t know who I was?
I’m just a non event mass, lost in non existence.

Horizons of starvation, landscapes of isolation.
Memories of smokestacks, faraway industrious redemption.
I’m far from home, in this alien world.
I am the borders in the margins of existence.
The lights go down in this white perpetual darkness.
When I sleep, I sleep in the shadow of the ancients.
Some foreign land which remains forever England.
My loves, my memory, preserved in non existence.

Reborn, a non-event mass in time, I don’t exist? I’m not insane!
I’m lost in time, I don’t exist!? Remember me?

Remember me, remember me, remember me!?
Track Name: History of a Drowning Boy
Born, Violence, wall to wall in a haze of apathy
Dreams of kindness, on the chopping board of childhood
Mother, of violence, she’s welcomed on every continent
Role model centurion, crucify me

Base, cocaine and cum-shots make me feel
Like a child lost in the gallery
Father feed on me
Mother I’m not guilty

No shame, it’s all been abandoned
So I dance with the masochists
And embrace all my history
Get fucked by the sadists
And swallow the bitterness
Down, down, down and down

Gone, all hope of redemption
Gone, bastards always win
Gone, my dreams are always dead
Gone, the good in me

Gone, all hope of redemption
Gone, bastards always win
Gone, my dreams are always dead
Gone, the good in me

Isaac should have slayed Abraham, for the murder in his heart
Revenge paramount by masterpiece, callous euphoric agony
Years in awe at the emptiness and ruthlessness you’ve shown
The god transference Caligula, patricidal irony

The pieces fit.
